This policy explains what personal information Black River Enterprise Solutions Inc. (“Black River”, “we”) collects through this website, blackriver.to, and how we use it. We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we handle it in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
Messages you send us. When you use a contact form, we receive your name (if you give it), your email address, your message and the page you sent it from. The form is delivered to our inbox as an email. We use this information only to reply to you and to discuss the project you asked about, and we keep the correspondence for as long as needed for that purpose and our business records. You can also simply email us.
Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request details (such as the page requested and your browser type) to deliver pages, keep the site secure and stop abuse – for example, to limit how many messages one address can send through the contact form. These operational logs are kept only for a short period.
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are visited and how fast they load. It does not use cookies, does not use local storage and does not track you across websites or build a profile of you.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies. The embedded map on our Contact page is provided by Google and may set its own cookies when that page loads; see Google’s privacy policy for details.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare hosts this website, delivers contact-form messages by email and provides the analytics described above.
- Google Maps is embedded on the Contact page to show our location.
- Gravatar (by Automattic) supplies the profile pictures shown next to older blog comments. Your browser requests these images directly from Gravatar when you view those comments.
These providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, under their own privacy policies.
Blog comments
Comments on our blog are closed. Comments published between 2011 and 2014 are still shown with the name and website the commenter chose to provide at the time. If you wrote one of them and would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.
What we don’t do
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it, subject to any legal obligation to keep certain records. Write to company@blackriver.to or to the address below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
